The short version
The Squeeze app collects nothing. Your videos are processed entirely on your Mac and never uploaded. There are no accounts, analytics, tracking or ads. The only personal data I receive is what you choose to send me through the contact form or by email.
The Squeeze app
- Your files stay on your Mac. Compression and conversion happen locally using the built-in HandBrake, FFmpeg and Apple frameworks. Squeeze doesn't need an internet connection to work.
- No data collection. Squeeze doesn't collect, store or send usage data, crash reports, file names or any personal information.
- Settings stay local. Your preferences, such as output folder, file names and Finder behaviour, are saved in macOS's standard preferences on your Mac.
- Finder extension. The extension only reads the paths of files you select and passes them to the Squeeze app on the same Mac. It doesn't read file contents or send anything anywhere.
- Notifications. If you allow them, macOS shows completion notifications. They are created on your Mac.
This website
- Hosting. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log technical information such as IP addresses for security and operations, under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- No cookies or analytics. The site itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking scripts.
- Downloads are served by GitHub Releases.
When you contact me
If you use the contact form, your name, email address, topic and message are sent to a Google Form that I own and stored in my Google account, under Google's Privacy Policy. If you email me or open a GitHub issue, I receive what you send. I use this information only to reply to you and to improve Squeeze. I don't sell or share it, and I delete it when it's no longer needed. GitHub issues are public, so don't include private details there.
Your rights
You can ask me to show, correct or delete any personal information you've sent me. Contact me using the details below. Depending on where you live, laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act or the EU GDPR may give you further rights.
Children
Squeeze and this website are not aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
