Terms of Use

Last updated 29 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms cover your use of the Squeeze app for macOS (“Squeeze”, “the app”) and this website. Squeeze is made and published by Sarthak, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). By downloading or using Squeeze, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

2. Your licence to use Squeeze

Squeeze is free to download and use, for personal and commercial work. Its source code is published on GitHub. Your rights to copy, change and share the source are set out in the licence file in that repository, and that licence takes priority over these terms where they differ.

Squeeze includes third-party software, including HandBrakeCLI and FFmpeg (with x264, x265 and other libraries). Each is provided under its own licence, mainly the GNU General Public License (GPL). Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licences give you. The source code for those components is available from their projects, or from me on request.

3. Using Squeeze responsibly

Squeeze processes files on your own Mac. You are responsible for the files you open and create with it. Please only compress or convert videos and audio you own or have permission to use, and respect copyright and other people's rights. Don't use Squeeze to get around copy protection (DRM) or for anything illegal.

4. Your files

Squeeze is designed never to overwrite your originals: it always writes new files and adds a number when a name is taken. Still, video conversion can fail, files can be large, and disks can fill up. Keep backups of anything important before processing it. Output quality, file size and compatibility depend on your source files and settings and can't be guaranteed.

5. No warranty

Squeeze is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. I don't promise that it will be error-free, work on every Mac or macOS version, or be updated or supported in the future.

6. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, files, profits or time, arising from your use of or inability to use Squeeze or this website, even if I was told such loss was possible. Where liability can't be excluded, my total liability is limited to the amount you paid me for Squeeze, which for a free app is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.

7. Third-party names and services

HandBrake, FFmpeg, Apple, Mac, macOS, Finder, ProRes and other names are trademarks of their owners. Squeeze isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them. Links to third-party sites (GitHub and Google Forms) are provided for convenience. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

8. Changes

I may update these terms, for example when Squeeze gains new features. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Squeeze after a change, you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be handled by the competent courts in India, unless the consumer laws of your country give you the right to bring proceedings where you live.
